Enter the World of Literature and Expressionist Art
Welcome to the world of Barb Janisch, where expressionist art inspired by the Judeo-Christian tradition and the divinity of the natural world comes to life. My name is Barb Janisch, and I am an expressionist artist dedicated to creating work that connects viewers with their faith through visual interpretations of ancient Biblical texts and the natural world.
Writing fiction rounds out my creative process. I write stories about the relationship between humans and the natural world and their effect on each other. Endangered species and their fight to save themselves, along with their natural habitat inspire my stories.

Experience the Spirit Through Art
My paintings explore the relationship between the tangible and the intangible. I use color to express an undefined, ethereal light source. My work speaks to the geometric symmetry and molecular connectivity between the animate and the inanimate.
Much of my work is inspired by the German expressionist art group Der Blaue Reiter (The Blue Rider). Active from 1911-1914, the group incuded artists such as Franz Marc, Wassily Kandinsky, August Macke, Lyonel Feininger, and Gabriele Munter. The group’s emphasis on abstract realism, geometric shapes, and the use of vivid colors and broad lines is evident in my approach to painting.

About Me
I discovered my talent for painting at an early age. I was only about five years old when I decided to draw a mural painting on my bedroom wall. My mother was not exactly pleased with what I did, but it didn’t matter because I already knew what I wanted to become by then.
